ViaVia Joker Travellers Cafés each are meeting places for travellers and lovers of world kitchen, a holiday ambience or a homey talk at the bar.

As the first of all the ViaVia’s we took our first steps in 1995. Ever since, we provide you with dishes from all over the world. From an Indonesian Ikan Pepes to a Mexican Chivichanga. From a Senegales Yassa Poulet to a Peruvian Pastel de Choclo. Housed in two typical townhouses, we aim for a homey atmosphere eventhough we gathered our recipes in places far from home. Of course you’re also more than welcome to browse through our library of travel guides or to enjoy a drink surrounded by bamboo on our terrace.

Do you suffer from holiday blues? You want to find some inspiration for your next trip? Or do you want to taste a slice of all the good things North, East, South and West have to offer? We love to accompany you with a bite of the world kitchen and the good vibes that come with that!

Since we’re a travellers café, we serve you a selection from the world kitchen. Our menu changes weekly, although we do follow some principles: there’re always three vegetarian options, one dish with chicken, one with meat and one with fish. Furthermore, every day we have a list of tapas on offer.

And of course… there’s always our famous spaghetti and South-African bobotie…

If you’d want to make a reservation: a table is only one phone call away: 0032 16 40 40 45 (we don’t take reservations for a table by e-mail for small groups). If you want to book a table for a group, we do ask you to send us an email. 

Our core business is to bring people together with a love for world kitchen and travelling.

We’re proud to say that everything that comes out of our kitchen, is fresh and homemade (except for the bread). We offer various fairtrade products, e.g. coffee, tea, some of our wines and juices.

We do hope that the joy we derive from doing what we do, reflects in the way we serve our customers and in the way we present our colourful dishes. We realise we’re lucky to be a part of the ViaVia. That’s why we want to share this fortune with others: since 2017 we decided to give a a share of our profit to a good cause. Last edition, vzw Recht op Migratie received the honours.

Since the covid pandemic, our meeting room has become part of our restaurant. Some customers let us know that they appreciate the fact that we provide a more quiet space, so we’re happy to please them.

That implies that our meeting room isn’t available exclusively for groups. If you don’t mind sharing the space with some other lovely cumstomers, you can send an email to heverlee[at]viavia.world if you would like to make a reservation for a bigger group.

We don’t offer buffets anymore, you can just order à la carte. We don’t limit the amount of different dishes you can order as a group, we do kindly ask you not to order tapas as a main dish.

We still have a limited take-away menu. You can give us a call and choose from our weekly menu. All take away is cold, but you can heat up the dishes easily.

And of course: you can still drop by for a kilo (or more!) of our famous spaghetti sauce.

ViaVia Heverlee is in the “fietsknooppuntennetwerk” between nodes 73 and 75. From the centre of Leuven you can easily peddle down the Naamsestraat downhill.

City lines 1 and 2 bring you from the city centre to the stop Heverlee Station. You can also get here with the lines 616 (Leuven – Bertem – Zaventem) and 337 (Leuven – Waver). You just need to cross the railway and look for the orange house!

The trainstation is only 32 steps away!

There is lots of parking space in our neighboorhoud, one on the Arenbergsquare and one just next to the railway.

Dear Customers,
Unfortunately, due to the works in the street it is no longer possible to guarantee our normal operation.

New opening hours:
Sunday and Monday closed.
Other days open from 5pm.
Saturday from 11am.

This for as long as it lasts, perhaps until the end of the year. The sewer will be replaced, the streetcar will be repaved, the direction of travel will change. The street will become pedestrianized.

Reservations, scheduled activities, departure meetings, etc. will of course remain scheduled.
Our meetingrooms can also be booked as usual, and lunch and buffet arrangements will of course remain possible.

A high quality menu of our classic dishes (chili con carne, spaghetti bolognaise, pasta pesto and seasonal salad) is supplemented with monthly menu recommendations (meat, chicken and vegetarian) and a fixed 3-course menu at the price of € 35,00.

Plus, an all-day lunch menu of soup & various sandwiches. Tapas as starter or snack during the whole day!

Prices for tapas are about €5, sandwiches range from €4 to €11 and main meals vary from €12 to €19.

Did you know that Antwerp has an actual network for city bikes? There is also a bicycle station at the start of Wolstraat! For more information, have a look at the Velo website.

If you are on the cycling network and you are between junctions 56 and 57 or 57 and 58, just take a small detour and you will find yourself in Wolstraat. We will be happy to help you on your way!

Of course, we would like nothing better than to see everyone use public transport to limit our ecological footprint and for you to be able to have a pint without any worries and to avoid any parking problems and the frustration that goes with it. Take the train to central station, then catch a number 24 or 11 tram towards Melkmarkt and ten minutes later you’ll be on our doorstep!

From the Ring, take exit 14. You are now on the Britse Lei which then becomes Frankrijklei. Turn left into Bourlastraat (after having driven on “the Leien” for about 1.5 km). Tram 17 also turns here. You will head straight for a statue, which you need to pass on the right-hand side. Follow this street, past the botanic gardens and the Bourlaschouwburg. Turn right at the lights.

At the Meir (wide shopping boulevard) there is another set of lights. Drive past the Meir and choose the right lane. Turn right at these lights. This is the Katelijnevest. Wolstraat is at the second set of lights on the left: you’ll see Via Via on your left from the lights. PLEASE NOTE: Wolstraat is a one-way street and you are not allowed to enter from this side SO go straight at the lights onto Minderbroedersrui. There is usually some parking available here, but if there isn’t, drive on until you get to the quay (a five-minute stroll to where we are located!).
